Frequently ASKED QUESTIONS
Answers to Your Questions
Q: I really do not like visiting the dentist, is there anything you can do to help me relax?
We understand many people cringe at the sights and sounds of having their teeth worked on, so we strive to create a relaxing atmosphere. For entertainment and distraction, we have state of the art video glasses that allow patients to sit back relax in the dentist chair, while watching their favorite shows from a pre-downloaded selection of movies and tv shows in the patient's assigned iPod. Or you can just listen to music on the iPod which will help to dim the sounds that accompany going to the dentist.
Q: My gums bleed after I brush. Is this something to be concerned about?
It is certainly not desirable to have bleeding gums following brushing. However, the condition may or may not require attention, depending on the source of the problem. Bleeding gums can be caused by any of the following: improper or rough scrubbing instead of gentle, circular brushing motions; using a hard-bristled tooth brush instead of a soft one; plaque and/or tartar build-up below the gum line; or gum sensitivity due to gingivitis or periodontal disease. If this problem persists despite correct brushing and flossing methods, or occurs every time you brush, contact our office to set up an evaluation appointment.
Q: What causes tooth discoloration?
Discoloration may be the result of genetics, medication, poor oral hygiene,
smoking, certain foods and beverages, or a combination of these factors.
Q: Are you a good candidate for tooth whitening?
People with most types of discoloration can achieve lighter teeth through the
Rembrandt one-hour whitening program. Ask your dentist how much whiter your
teeth can be.
Q: What is Rembrandt Lightening gel?
Rembrandt Lightening Gel is a 35% hydrogen peroxide formula. When activated
by the light , whitening is achieved.
Q. Is the Whitening procedure safe?
Absolutely! When used under the supervision of your dental professional,
the procedure is safe and will not harm teeth or gums. The safety of the
Rembrandt Program is supported in more than 20 research studies at leading
dental universities.
